Professor at the Sorbonne University, Muhammad Hunaid, described the decision of the European Parliament to classify Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism as a historic decision, because it strips the exclusivity of terrorism from Arabs and Muslims, and for the first time a Western country has been classified in this capacity.

Huneid added, in his interview with the episode (11/29/2022) of the “The Opposite Direction” program, that this move restores matters to normal and starts calling things by their real names, and it is time to hold Russia accountable, and before it the Soviet Union, for their massacres in Chechnya, Afghanistan, Syria, and the Wagner groups in Libya. Pointing out that Europe's move came after it was affected by Russian terrorism in Ukraine.

He added that for the first time, a country that is a member of the UN Security Council is classified and is considered one of the superpowers in this classification, and it is a partner in the Western alliance during World War II, warning that the matter is an important turning point, albeit late, in classifying more Western countries in the lists of terrorism.

On the other hand, the expert in Russian foreign policy, Thuraya al-Farra, believes that classifying Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism comes as part of the European-American propaganda against Russia, to calm the European peoples who do not find gas to warm this winter.

She added that there are many European countries that abstained from voting against Russia, and that French President Emmanuel Macron came out and said that voting is not within the jurisdiction of the European Parliament, but rather the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice.

And she added that the European decision is not based on a legal framework but rather on media consumption, stressing that European countries do not care about the laws of countries, and this was evident through the entry of the German Minister of the Interior to the World Cup stadiums in Qatar, and appearing in clothes bearing gay slogans, which is a criminal matter. In Qatari law, FIFA has prevented these things.
