When reviewing records from assignments carried out by the veterinarian, the county administrative board has determined that there are very serious deficiencies.

This applies, among other things, to maltreatment where the animals ultimately had to be euthanized urgently by another veterinarian.

Unusual case

The County Administrative Board can also state that the incorrect treatments were carried out systematically and repeatedly and that the veterinarian lacks basic knowledge.

According to Marie Larsson, unit manager for food, veterinary and game at Östergötland County Administrative Board, these types of cases are unusual.

- We rarely become aware of the type of shortcomings in the performance of a service that we believe should be examined by the Animal Health and Medical Care Responsibility Board, says Marie Larsson.

Still in service

According to Marie Larsson, a decision from the Responsibility Committee on a penalty for the veterinarian may take a long time.

- From what we know, the vet is still on duty, she says.
