It was last week, in the middle of an ongoing trial, that the new information reached prosecutor Mattias Vilhelmsson.

The National Forensic Center of the police, NFC, had received a hit in its register.

A weapon that was fired in a pedestrian and bicycle tunnel in Sätra on August 17 was the same one found in Uppsala, a little over a week later.

But the man who was taken with the weapon in Uppsala is not the 19-year-old who the prosecutor believes shot with it in Sätra.

- That's right.

It was one person who was checked on August 25.

He is now convicted, says prosecutor Mattias Vilhelmsson.

The defense attorney: The Gävle resident lives near the crime scene

The 19-year-old's defense lawyer says that the Gävlebon who was arrested with the weapon in Uppsala lives within a few hundred meters of the crime scene.

- I think that person matches the description more, says lawyer Christer Söderberg.

Doesn't change the charge

When new information comes in during a trial, the prosecution issue may need to be reconsidered.

But the prosecutor does not think that is necessary in this case.

- My prosecution remains.

I base that on witness statements and the technical evidence from the scene, says Mattias Vilhelmsson.

SVT Gävleborg reported last week that the weapon the 19-year-old was shot with can also be linked to other cases.

On Monday, the last day of the trial was held in Gävle district court.

The district court announces the verdict in two weeks.

The 19-year-old is charged with several cases of weapons offenses and drug offences.

If he is convicted of all charges, the prosecutor is asking for 4.5 years in prison.
