Last to start after setting the fastest time in the first run, hitherto undefeated in slalom in Killington, already victorious twice this winter: the queen of skiing Mikaela Shiffrin had everything to deprive Wendy Holdener of victory for the 31st time in slalom.

But the "curse" of the Schwyzoise ended at the same time as Shiffrin collapsed on the heated and damaged snow of the second track, with the 27th time only without major fault, to take only 5th place.

Fair play, the American immediately embraced the Swiss in the finish area, a big hug that was well worth the number of victories taken by the American at the expense of the Swiss.

Double combined world champion, Olympic medalist in slalom (2nd in 2018, 3rd in 2022), and in combined (3rd in 2018, 2nd in 2022), the versatile Holdener has reached a new stage in her career and can dream of a good final general classification in the event of a full season.

After four races, she is second, 25 points behind defending champion Mikaela Shiffrin.

Tied with Holdener on Sunday in Killington, Anna Swenn-Larsson had her very first World Cup victory, aged 31, after eight podiums.

She had won world silver in the discipline in 2019.

The Austrian Katharina Truppe took 3rd place at 22 hundredths, ahead of the Slovak Olympic champion Petra Vlhova (at 44/100)

French Nastasia Noens finished 12th at 1 sec 18, her best result since March 2021.

The skiers have an appointment next week in Lake Louise for two runs and a super-G.
