President Yoon Seok-yeol is scheduled to directly preside over a cabinet meeting tomorrow (29th) to deliberate on the order to start work in relation to the cargo union's strike.

In a written briefing this morning, Kim Eun-hye, chief of public relations at the President's Office, said, "President Yoon told the relevant chiefs at the senior secretary's meeting today that 'labor-management rule of law' must be firmly established in relation to the cargo union's collective refusal to transport." It is important to clearly establish the law and principles for any illegal acts by the company,” he said.

Under the Trucking and Vehicles Act, the order to start business can be issued by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, but it requires deliberation by the State Council.

It has not yet been invoked since 2004, when the start-up order was introduced into the current law.

This week's cabinet meeting will be presided over by Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, and it is interpreted that President Yoon decided to preside over it in order to express his will to deal strictly with Prime Minister Han's overseas business trip and strike by the cargo union.

Today at 2:00 PM, the government and the cargo union are scheduled to hold negotiations for the first time after the strike.
