The Kinburn promontory, near the southern coastal town of Ochakiv, fell into Russian hands in June.

Since then, the situation has been relatively unchanged, but in recent weeks, information about various advances in the area has been pouring in.

From the Ukrainian side, it is relatively quiet about what activity is taking place at the cape, but it is clear that efforts are being made to take back the land.

Control over Kinburn also means control over large parts of the Black Sea - and according to some observers even more than that.

Could Kinburn be the key to a Ukrainian counter-offensive to the south?
