"Wakanda Forever", the sequel to the afro-futurist film which had a hit in 2018, pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the star of the first "Black Panther", who died in 2020 of colon cancer at the age of 43.

The actor makes appearances there in the form of flashbacks as T'Challa, the ruler of the fictional African kingdom of Wakanda.

After T'Challa's death, Wakanda finds itself battling world powers, including an undersea kingdom, and struggles to retain its autonomy.

Moviegoers in theaters across the United States and Canada overwhelmingly preferred this Marvel to Disney's animated film 'Avalonia: The Curious Voyage,' which raked in just $18.6 million over the long weekend. .

In third place on the podium, "Devotion", the story of two US Navy fighter pilots, recorded $9 million in revenue.

Comes just behind "The Menu", a film that borrows from horror cinema, film noir and squeaky comedy, with 7.3 million dollars.

The "Black Adam" superheroes are in fifth place with just under $5 million.
