According to the National Medical Insurance Bureau, as of the end of October 2022, the direct settlement of hospitalization and outpatient expenses across provinces and other places for medical treatment has exceeded 50 million person-times, and more and more insured people have enjoyed the dividends of the reform of direct settlement for cross-provincial and remote medical treatment.
The operation of inter-provincial direct settlement of hospitalization expenses is stable
As of the end of October 2022, there are 61,700 designated medical institutions across the country for hospitalization expenses across provinces, and a total of 16.3923 million direct settlements have been made.
From January to October, 4.7383 million hospitalization expenses across the country were directly settled across provinces, and funds paid 62.88 billion yuan.
In October, there were 500,300 inter-provincial direct settlements of hospitalization expenses across the country, and fund payments were 6.764 billion yuan, a decrease of 13.1% and 14.4% from the previous month; the average daily direct settlement was 16,100 person-times, and the average fund payment per time was 13,500 yuan.
Since September, due to the impact of the epidemic situation in various places, the growth rate of hospital settlements has slowed down.
Scope of direct settlement of outpatient expenses across provinces

As of the end of October 2022, on the basis of the full coverage of general outpatient services across provinces, 97% of the country's overall planning areas (384) will further start outpatient radiotherapy and chemotherapy for hypertension, diabetes, malignant tumors, uremia dialysis, and organ therapy. Trans-provincial direct settlement of treatment expenses related to 5 outpatient chronic diseases including anti-rejection treatment after transplantation.
There are 78,800 designated medical institutions connected across provinces for outpatient expenses (including 11,700 designated medical institutions connected across provinces for outpatient chronic diseases), 214,900 designated retail pharmacies, and a total of 36.6574 million person-times of direct settlement.
From January to October, 24.1837 million outpatient expenses were directly settled across provinces across the country, and 3.482 billion yuan was paid by funds; among them, 137,300 people were directly settled across provinces for outpatient chronic and special disease-related treatment expenses, and 133 million yuan was paid by funds.
In October, there were 3.5569 million outpatient direct settlements across provinces across the country, with fund payments of 517 million yuan, a month-on-month increase of 5.3% and 5.5% respectively; the average daily direct settlement was 114,700 person-times, and the average fund payment per time was 145.35 yuan.
