North Korean President Kim Jong Un said that his country's ultimate goal is to have the most powerful nuclear power in the world that it has never seen before.

In remarks during the launch of a new intercontinental ballistic missile last week reported by state media, Kim said that the Hwasong-17 missile is the most powerful in his country's strategic arsenal, and shows his country's determination and ability to build the most powerful army in the world, and pledged to confront US nuclear threats with nuclear weapons.

Kim added that his country's scientists had made "a remarkable leap forward in developing technology for mounting nuclear warheads on ballistic missiles," without going into details.
