The new president of RN Jordan Bardella castigated the attitude of Emmanuel Macron, after the opening Thursday of judicial information by the National Financial Prosecutor's Office on the role of consulting firms during the 2017 and 2022 campaigns.

"Emmanuel Macron has entrusted France to liquidators, to predators from above and predators from below," Jordan Bardella told franceinfo, adding that the consulting firms involved "do not work in the interest of the French nation and the French people".

The MEP recalled that according to a Senate report published in March 2022, private firms such as McKinsey “benefited from significant public contracts.

No need to "question the immunity" of the president

For him, “this case is part of a somewhat more global phenomenon”.

"We know very well that there are links between Emmanuel Macron and these American private firms", he said, citing the sale of Alstom to General Electrics or even the Uber files and the role of Emmanuel Macron in the establishment of Uber in France, when he was Minister of the Economy.

He nevertheless considered that there was "no reason to question presidential immunity", which means that the president cannot testify or be the subject of prosecution during his term of office.

The National Financial Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that it had opened two judicial inquiries at the end of October: one is aimed in particular at the head of "reduction of accounting elements in a campaign account".

The other relates to a possible “favouritism and concealment of favouritism”.
