Who is the late doctor whom Mohammed bin Rashid mourned?

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, mourned Dr. Joseph Baron, who passed away on Friday.

His Highness described the late doctor as a doctor whose medical services affected the lives of many people.

His Highness tweeted in English, on his official account on Twitter, in which he said, "Dubai mourns Dr. Joseph Baron, an inspiring doctor whose medical services touched the lives of many people," adding, "He will always be remembered for his knowledge, compassion, and dedication."

Dr. Baron is one of the personalities with a long record of serving the medical sector in the Emirates since his arrival in the seventies of the last century, where he contributed to the development of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Dubai Health Authority.

The late became the head of the internal departments at Rashid Hospital and Dubai Hospital, and he is credited with developing it until the internal department embraced twelve sub-specialties such as heart diseases, diseases of the digestive system, respiratory system, infectious diseases and endocrinology.

 Thanks to his efforts, each of these specializations has become independent and integrated with its medical staff and assistants. It provides its services to patients and contributes to teaching and continuing medical education.

And the late, during a work trip in the Dubai Health Authority, established a drug committee whose chairman remained for more than twenty years, and one of the fruits of this committee was the codification of the first drug reference in the region, which is considered the nucleus of the drug reference adopted by the Federal Ministry of Health, and he is credited with creating educational courses for studies above undergraduate in medicine.

The late contributed to the establishment of the Dubai Medical College for Girls since its establishment in 1988, and taught internal medicine at the college.
