Two days away from Mother's Day in Russia, the Russian president has publicly praised the heroism of the soldiers deployed in Ukraine.

He said he shared with the government the pain of the mothers and companions of those who were killed.

But away from the journalists, he also asked a delegation of soldiers' mothers invited for the occasion to share their criticisms, openly, and the solutions they had in mind.

He pledged to do his utmost to implement their demands.

By presenting them with a solid shoulder on which they can unburden themselves, Vladimir Putin responds to the criticisms which have multiplied on social networks.

For the past few weeks, women have been calling out to the Russian president.

They relay the problems encountered on the front by their sons or spouses to demand answers from the president.

A phenomenon that the Kremlin cannot afford to neglect when we know the role played by these mothers of soldiers, whether at the end of the war in Afghanistan or more recently in Chechnya.
