“Given the great importance of the energy supply reserve for the nuclear safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP ... we have decided, despite the direct threat to the lives of the personnel employed in these works, to proceed with the restoration of the open switchgear of the Zaporizhzhya TPP,” Rosatom said.

Earlier, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the Zaporozhye NPP was again disconnected from external power supply and is currently operating at the expense of its emergency diesel generators.

The head of the corporation, Aleksey Likhachev, noted that the risk of an accident at the Zaporozhye NPP would increase if an alternative supply of electricity to the plant is not provided against the backdrop of the destruction of power lines.
