An 86-year-old woman was declared innocent by a judgment of the investigating chamber of the Angers Court of Appeal (Maine-et-Loire) delivered last Monday.

Her husband joined the nursing home at the end of 2015. She visited him every lunchtime.

In June 2016, the man was hospitalized for bleeding.

Doctors find rat poison in his body, close to the toxic threshold.

A poison he couldn't have ingested on his own.

The retiree died in January 2017, a death unrelated to his previous poisoning.

Three months later, his wife is indicted, considered the main suspect.

She underwent several interrogations.

The gendarmes also exhumed the body of her first husband in order to know the precise reasons for his death.

After five years of investigation, the octogenarian was finally cleared of any suspicion of crime.
