A six-year-old boy was rescued from the rubble two days after a 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit Indonesia's Java province, killing at least 268 people, a rescue official said on Wednesday.

Azka, a firefighter named Aman Rianto, who participated in the rescue operation, said that the child was found alive today, Wednesday, under the rubble of a house in Nagrek village, Cianjur district, about 40 hours after the earthquake occurred on Monday.

He added, "The child is still breathing. Thank God he is safe and received treatment immediately."

Officials said many of those killed in the earthquake in Cianjur district were children attending religious lessons in mosques after school.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency said that about 150 people are still missing in Cianjur after the earthquake.
