Almost eleven months after a death threat against Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) became known in the messenger service Telegram, the Rostock District Court issued a penalty order against a 57-year-old man.

This was confirmed by a spokeswoman for the court of the German Press Agency.

The man can object to this, and then there will be a main hearing.

The Rostock public prosecutor had applied for the penalty order, in which a fine was imposed, against the man at the Rostock District Court.

The investigation into the allegation of the threat has been completed, said a spokesman.

The man is said to have written in a Telegram chat group on January 3: "She will be picked up, either with the patrol car in a jacket or with the hearse, no matter how she is picked up." The post is the "lateral thinker" scene in Mecklenburg- Added to Western Pomerania, which had criticized the Corona measures.

The Rostock left politician Steffen Bockhahn had made the post public, later the message was obviously deleted.

A penalty order is a conviction without a trial.

The aim is to punish simpler crimes quickly and easily.

This instrument can be used, for example, to determine fines or the withdrawal of a driver's license.

In certain cases, a suspended sentence of up to one year can also be imposed.
