Israeli media said today, Wednesday, that Palestinian gunmen kidnapped the body of an Israeli from a hospital in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, after he was killed in a traffic accident in which he was injured along with another Israeli who was accompanying him.

Israeli television and several Israeli newspapers published the news of the kidnapping of the dead body, and said that his name was Tiran Ferro, 18, from the town of Daliat al-Carmel (southeast of Haifa).

The Jerusalem Post newspaper said that the two Israelis entered through the Gilboa crossing in a car and were involved in a serious traffic accident, as a result of which they were taken to the hospital in Jenin for treatment, where one of them died of his injuries.

According to the same newspaper, the other injured Israeli was transferred to Israel in serious condition.

For its part, The Times of Israel quoted the Israeli army as saying that Ferro was transferred because of his serious injuries to Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin, while the other injured person was transferred to a military checkpoint near the city, so that the army transferred him from there to an Israeli hospital.

The newspaper said that the dead man was a student, and added that the gunmen who kidnapped the body believed that it belonged to an Israeli soldier, referring to ongoing talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority to return it.

For its part, Haaretz newspaper quoted a Palestinian official as confirming the kidnapping of the body of the dead Israeli, noting that it is being held in the Jenin camp.
