These new studios, located in the Ciudad de la Tele (Television City), a vast audiovisual complex located in Tres Cantos, in the northern suburbs of Madrid, include five film sets and around thirty editing rooms.

These new premises make it possible to "double the production capacity" of Netflix in Spain, with a total of "ten sets", spread over an area of ​​22,000 square meters including "production offices, make-up and hairdressing areas, and a locker room", specifies the group in a press release.

The American giant had inaugurated its first studios outside the United States on this same Tres Cantos site in April 2019 - shortly after having had its first global success in a language other than English with the Spanish series La Casa de papel .

It has made it from its main audiovisual creation site in the European Union, with more than 30 films and series shot in 2022, such as Welcome to Eden or Elite, one of the main Spanish successes of the "streaming" group.

Spain is "a strategic place" for Netflix, because of its central role "in audiovisual production in Europe and in the world", underlined one of the world managers of the American giant, Maria Ferrera, at the end. a visit to the press of the new facilities.

A message relayed by the Spanish Minister of Culture Miquel Iceta, who said he wanted to "promote the presence of major platforms and major producers" on Spanish territory.

Spain, whose western landscapes attracted Hollywood in the 1960s, is increasingly popular with series production platforms, which today generate nearly 10,000 jobs, according to the government.

The latter has set itself the objective of increasing audiovisual production on its territory by 30% by 2025 in order to make the country a “hub” of the sector in Europe, drawing on European funds from the mega- post-pandemic recovery plan.
