After his defeat in the presidential election on October 30, Jair Bolsonaro took legal action.

The outgoing president of Brazil has filed an appeal with the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), which he asks to carry out an "extraordinary verification" of the votes, says CNN Brazil, Tuesday, November 22.

According to this media, the appeal denounces "irreparable non-conformities" of certain voting machines likely to "tarnish" the result of the ballot which resulted in the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro against Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

The TSE did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

This appeal is unlikely to succeed, as Lula's victory has already been ratified by the TSE and recognized by Brazil's top politicians and the country's international partners, including the United States.

On the other hand, a small fringe of the Brazilian electorate, largely in the minority but determined, still refuses to recognize the defeat of Jair Bolsonaro.
