A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck West Java, Indonesia, killing at least 14 people as buildings collapsed in the area.



The Indonesia Meteorological, Climate and Geological Agency (BMKG) announced that an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 occurred in Qianzur Regency, West Java, at 1:21 pm on the 21st (local time).



The depth of the epicenter was 10 km.



The National Disaster Prevention Agency (BNPB) said at least 14 people were killed and 17 injured in the quake.



It also explained that dozens of buildings, including houses, government offices, and hospitals, had suffered damage, and that they were checking the damage situation.



Local media reported that the scale of damage was greater than the disaster authorities announced.



Indonesia's Metro TV, citing local government officials, reported that more than 20 people were killed and more than 300 injured.
