With Biden reaching eighty.. Americans are wondering: What is aging?

US President Joe Biden turned 80 today, Sunday, becoming the first president to reach this age in US history.

Biden is scheduled to celebrate his birthday during a lunch hosted by his wife, Jill, on an occasion that increased her joy at the marriage of his granddaughter Naomi at a wedding held at the White House yesterday, Saturday.

Although Biden is already the oldest to hold the position of president, the parameters of the 2024 race to the White House are still unclear in the United States.

Democracy, dating back nearly 250 years, celebrates youth, but millions of Americans, including presidents, are now working beyond the traditional retirement age of 65.

Ronald Reagan was 77 when he left the White House, but Biden will be 86 when his second, four-year term ends, if he wins it.

His potential Republican opponent, Donald Trump, will be 82 when his term ends if he wins the 2024 election.

The proportion of elderly people in American society is increasing and they work until advanced stages of life.

The population over the age of 65 is expected to nearly double from 52 million in 2018 to 95 million in 2060.

And by 2026, more than one in four men over 65 will still be working, according to projections from the Population Reference Bureau.

And some Americans have concerns about the advanced age of the most prominent potential candidate for the 2024 elections.

And while 71 percent of Democrats believe that Biden is "smart and able to deal with challenges," 46 percent of them say that he may not be able to take on the challenge of running for the 2024 elections, according to a Reuters-Ipsos poll conducted on the eighth and ninth of November.

About a quarter of Republicans, or 26 percent, think Trump may not be fit to run for the 2024 election because of his age.

Aside from political affiliation, 68 percent of people polled think Biden may not be up to the challenge two years from now, and 49 percent say the same about Trump.

The poll found that about 86 percent of Americans believe that someone 75 or younger should not serve as president.

Asked about concerns about Biden getting old before his 80th birthday, the White House said his recent record speaks for itself.

"As then-candidate Biden said in 2019, keep an eye on him," said White House spokesman Andrew Bates.

The Reuters poll showed that two-thirds of the people surveyed support the idea of an upper age limit for those who hold federal office, including the president, members of Congress and Supreme Court justices.

However, Biden was not included in the list of the ten oldest people in the world currently occupying the position of leadership, which is headed by Cameroonian President Paul Biya (89 years old).
