The emergency services were alerted at 16.30 on Sunday afternoon about a fire in an apartment on the eighth floor at Gärdet.

There is a large effort on site and the fire should be under control according to rescue center Mitt.

The extinguishing work is expected to last a couple of hours.

- We have had a fully developed fire on the eighth floor with the risk of spreading to the attic.

It has now been announced that the fire is under control, says the management operator at rescue center Mitt.

One person has been taken to hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries, according to information to TT.

- It has been evacuated from the sixth floor down.

It is too early to say whether a crime has been committed.

About 30 have been evacuated and none of them are injured, says Carina Skagerlind, police spokesperson to TT.
