“We must deepen ties with the region, tap into its huge potential, which is represented in energy supplies, the supply of critical raw materials and new transport corridors that are independent of Russia,” Borrell wrote in his blog.

According to him, Russia and China continue to play a central role in Central Asia.

He noted that the region is striving to diversify its ties and sees the EU as a suitable partner.

On September 14, Deputy Assistant Director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID, part of the State Department) Anjali Kaur said that the goal of US policy should be to decouple the economies of Asia and Russia.

She noted that Washington is already taking actions aimed at strengthening the interconnectedness of the economies of the countries of the region and stimulating economic growth.
