The police custody of the man suspected of having raped a 96-year-old woman on Saturday at her home in Toulouse has been lifted, public prosecutor Samuel Vuelta Simon said on Sunday.

"There is nothing to consider him as the author of the facts," he said.

The investigation into "aggravated rape" is continuing.

Saturday morning, shortly before 8 a.m., a home nurse surprised a man when he arrived at the home of a nonagenarian patient who lives in the Faubourg Bonnefoy district, not far from Matabiau station.

After having the intruder on the run, the nurse had warned the police.

The 96-year-old woman claimed to have been raped.

A 28-year-old was arrested shortly after.

On Saturday, the doctors confirmed traces of violence on the nonagenarian.

According to

La Dépêche du Midi

, she filed a complaint and was able to return home after a short stay in hospital.
