Mohammed bin Salman meets with the Prime Minister of Thailand after the restoration of diplomatic relations

The Thai Prime Minister met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today, Friday, in Bangkok and signed agreements to strengthen diplomatic relations, which resumed this year, after more than 30 years of reducing Saudi Arabia's relations with Bangkok.

The two leaders presided over the signing of five agreements pledging to increase trade and investment between the two countries, boost tourism and deepen energy cooperation.

Thailand hopes that its improved relationship with Saudi Arabia will give it an economic boost.

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha held bilateral talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Bangkok.

And Saudi Arabia received an invitation as a guest of the host country of APEC.

"Cooperation in trade, investment and employment is already under way," government spokeswoman Ratchada Thunderik said ahead of the meetings.

The two countries resumed full diplomatic relations in January, when Prayuth visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of the crown prince.

Prince Mohammed said that restoring relations is beneficial to both countries.

He added that investment, infrastructure and public health are important areas.
