At 82, Nancy Pelosi decided it was time to make way for a new generation.

This is what she announced in a fifteen-minute speech in front of the Chamber, to the loud applause of the elected Democrats whom she led for twenty years, in the majority as in the minority.

In the ranks, however, there were far fewer Republicans, and those who were there were far less enthusiastic.

It must be said that she is a political target for them.

During the campaign for the mid-term elections, many wanted to end his political career.

It is missed, Nancy Pelosi remains in the House as a simple representative.

It was a wish of Joe Biden, who did not want to do without his experience when the Republican majority will be very short and he is considering a second term in 2024. No doubt she thought about it for a long time after the attack, a few days before the elections, of her husband Paul Pelosi by a man who was looking for her.

In her speech, Nancy Pelosi recalled the almost sacred character of the Capitol, evoking in half-words the attack of January 6, 2021. That day, she was already the target of rioters who had just listened to a speech by Donald Trump .

The latter is also the only one of all the presidents with whom she worked that she did not mention in her thanks.
