China

has integrated inclusive protection of the rights of people with disabilities, including the right to participate in sports activities, into its national development laws.

This was announced by Chinese officials today at a press conference organized to present a new white paper just released on the development of disabled sports in China.

Liu Guoyong, deputy director of

China's General Administration of Sports, said the administration and the China Disabled Persons' Federation jointly released two documents integrating

the development of rehabilitation, sports and fitness activities for the disabled

under the framework of Chinese national 'Fitness-for-All' strategies.

The latter added that such efforts ensure that people with disabilities enjoy equal rights also with regard to sport. 

Guo Liqun, spokesman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation,

he said the country is working to increase accessibility for the disabled in areas such as employment and education, and consolidated his efforts by stepping up legislation and launching comprehensive development plans.

The latter added that the creation of a barrier-free environment in China is carried out in accordance with relevant regulations, such as the Disability Protection Law.

This project is also included in

the country's 14th five-year plan (2021-2025)

and long-term goals for the year 2035. The spokesman further explained that with the guidelines provided by these documents, China is making progress in implementing a barrier-free environment in sectors such as infrastructure, transport and digital services, as well as on campuses and workplaces.
