The summit of the APEC = Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Conference will be held in Thailand from the 18th, and opinions will be exchanged on the theme of trade and investment in the region.

The focus will be on what policies the United States and China, which are in deepening conflict, will come up with to expand their influence in Asia.

The APEC summit meeting, which will be attended by 21 countries and regions including Japan, the United States, China, and Southeast Asian countries, will be held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, for two days from the 18th.

President Biden will be absent from the United States and Vice President Harris will attend, while President Xi Jinping will attend from China.

Concerning the relationship with this region, China is accelerating economic ties by putting RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) into effect this year with Southeast Asian countries.

On the other hand, the United States is trying to counter China by strengthening its influence on this region through the IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework).

Under these circumstances, at this summit meeting, the conflicting United States and China are expected to strengthen their ties with each other, and the focus will be on what kind of policy they will come up with to expand their influence in Asia.

In addition, as the differences in the positions of each country over the invasion of Ukraine are conspicuous, attention will be paid to whether a summit declaration can be compiled as a result of the discussions.
