He was 22 years old when

Michael Matthews disappeared on Everest.

He had become the

, where he stayed for around 20 minutes before he was out of sight three hours into the descent.

That May 13, 1999 he disappeared.

It was a tragedy that deeply marked the Matthews, a

wealthy British family

23 years after that tragedy, the youngest of the family, Spencer (34), has decided to travel to the same mountain to try to find his body and take it to England.

Spencer, star of the reality show

several months in therapy

before embarking on the

"It's always bothered me that he could be lying there, like some kind of tourist attraction, but also alone, away from us. He died there and probably his last thought was that he would never see his family again.

We've never seen his body

. and I decided to find him to bring him home," he says.

His father, the millionaire David Matthews, initiated a legal process against the company that organized Michael's trip and the expedition guides since he considered that

they acted negligently

and were the cause of his son's death.

The case was dismissed because the judge ruled that there was no evidence of negligence.
