The Solparken in Linköping has now supplied electricity for two seasons.

According to Tekniska verken, it has worked just as well as they hoped.

Now the main owner of the solar park, Alight, has built a battery storage.

- We are the first in Sweden to have such a large battery connected to such a large solar park, says Fredrik Remneblad, responsible for solar, wind and hydropower at Tekniska verken, which is a co-owner of the solar park.

Expensive batteries

The battery has cost SEK 16 million and can store two MWh.

- Actually, the battery is too expensive to just store electricity that you want to sell at another time.

Interest in solar parks is currently huge, both from landowners who want to use their land and from developers who want to build solar parks.

- But my definite advice is that no one uses productive arable land or land that has other natural values, says Fredrik Remneblad.

"Install more than just solar"

The technical works themselves have plans to build more both larger and smaller solar parks

- We try to build parks where you can have grazing animals or which can add something more to the biological diversity.

The great interest from both private individuals and companies that want to build solar parks makes it difficult for manufacturers to get materials on time.

- So now there are long delivery times for solar panels.

But even if it takes a few extra months, it does not affect our plans for new solar parks very much, says Fredrik Remneblad.

"Biggest is not always the most important"

- Some developers build no less than five or ten hectares.

But since we are a regional company, we must make sure to add more renewable electricity production and can therefore go down to 1 ha.

But then there must be a good electricity network infrastructure nearby, otherwise it's difficult to get finance in it, says Fredrik Remneblad.
