A 51-year-old woman is hospitalized in the "Cardarelli" hospital in Naples following burns caused by her husband who set her on fire after throwing alcohol on her body.

The fact happened on Monday night in Montecorvino Pugliano, a center in the province of Salerno.

The woman was first taken to the Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno and then transferred to the Burn Center of the Cardarelli hospital in Naples due to the seriousness of her injuries.

The doctors found second and third degree burns extending to the back and upper right limb, but her life would not be in danger. 

The strictest investigative confidentiality applies to the case.

The investigations by the carabinieri of the Battipaglia company are coordinated by the Salerno Public Prosecutor's Office, which is examining the position of the 52-year-old man.
