“No significant proposals have been made for the ninth package, and this is good, because so far we have seen that sanctions affect the European economy much more than the Russian one,” Szijjarto said, quoted by TASS.

In his opinion, there is no other economy in the world that suffers as much from sanctions as the economy of the European Union.

The Brussels sanctions "did not at all justify the hopes" that were placed on them, the minister stressed.

Szijjarto recalled that last year Hungary spent €7 billion on energy imports, and in 2022 €17-19 billion will be spent for the same purposes. At the same time, according to his forecasts, next year this amount may exceed €20 billion.

Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban warned that EU anti-Russian sanctions do not achieve their goal of hurting Russia and only weaken the European economy.
