The Israeli police chief,

, ordered an investigation into the incidents that occurred yesterday in Jerusalem during the funeral of Al Jazeera journalist 

Shireen Abu Akleh

, who was killed during an Israeli special forces blitz in Jenin, in the West Bank.

The

Jerusalem Post

reports it, specifying that the results of the investigation will be presented to the police chief himself.

During the incidents, which erupted at the beginning of the funeral, six Palestinians were arrested.

During the clashes the coffin fell to the ground.

Thousands of Palestinians who attended the funeral of the American-Palestinian journalist killed and who worked for years for Al Jazeera.

In the note announcing the investigation, the police explained that their

agents "were exposed to violence and that for this reason they resorted to force".

Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) welcomes "all international organizations for the investigation of the assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh".

, however confirming his rejection of Israel.

"What happened yesterday in the funeral of Abu Akleh - he added on twitter - reinforces our position of refusal of Israel's participation in this investigation.
