Hossein Ronaghi Maleki, an Iranian free speech activist who has been jailed several times for his protests against the Tehran regime, was transferred to Sina Hospital in the center of the country's capital, in serious health conditions.

The Iranian media reported today.

The 37-year-old Ronaghi was jailed on 24 September for lashing out against the violent repression of protests for Mahsa Amini who died in police custody, has been on

hunger strike

for over 50 days and has not taken water since Saturday.

"As eyewitnesses imprisoned in Evin Prison Ward 4, we closely observe the physical condition of our colleague and it is possible that at any moment he could go into cardiac arrest," wrote in a note delivered to Brother Hossain, directors

Jafar Panahi

and

Mohammad Rasoulof.

And also another reformist activist,

Mostafa Tajzadeh

, incarcerated in the same prison, in a telephone conversation with his wife said he was very worried about Ronaghi's serious health and invited us to "do something before it is too late".

A contributor to foreign newspapers, Ronaghi had already escaped a first arrest when he went to Evin prison in Tehran to meet the prosecutor.

Then the arrest and the hunger strike, his condition worsened and he was transferred by Evin to a prison hospital where he would be in severe kidney condition also from being severely tortured and beaten in prison.

Other activists denounce the breaking of both of the man's legs during the torture.

The family complained that the Iranian judicial authorities did not immediately authorize a transfer for medical treatment.

Since last night, when Hossein was kidnapped and taken out of the hospital, until now we have no news of his whereabouts ",

Hassan wrote again, launching a dramatic alarm. 

As for the other excellent prisoners: Rasoulof, the director of Evil Doesn't Exist, winner of the

Golden Bear in Berlin

in 2020, was arrested at the beginning of the summer together with

Mostafa Aleahmad

, also a director, with the 'accuses of having threatened the security of the state after protesting the reaction of the authorities to the Iranians' protests for the May tragedy in Abadan, with the collapse of the Metropol which left 43 dead.

Jafar Panahi,

winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in 2000 for the film The circle, was arrested a few days later, also in Tehran, while participating in the protests to demand the release of the two colleagues. 

The crackdown on the protest resulted in casualties and thousands of arrests, including

lawyers

who pledged to defend the protesters who ended up in prison.

This was made known by the French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna.

"We are concerned about two other compatriots, and our latest verification indicates that they have been arrested," Colonna told Le Parisien.
