With the approach of the reduction in rebates from the State and TotalEnergies on fuel, motorists intend to take advantage of it one last time.

In Toulouse, many of them lined up at the various stations in the city to fill up, or simply top up, before the price increase at the pump on Wednesday.

There are crowds in front of French petrol stations.

As of this Wednesday, the rebate on fuel prices allocated by the State will drop from 30 cents to just 10 cents per litre.

Same thing at Total, which applied an additional discount in its stations.

From 20 cents, the commercial gesture of the French oil giant goes to 10 cents.

So, to make good deals, motorists rush to service stations before prices increase.

Total dry stations

In this station of a supermarket in Toulouse, in Haute-Garonne, diesel is displayed at 1.74 euros per liter, and unleaded 95 at 1.46 euros.

Attractive prices that Francis may not be seeing again anytime soon.

So the motorist came just to fill up his tank, just to take advantage of the government rebate.

"I was just passing by but I took the opportunity to take just 15 liters", he explains at the microphone of Europe 1.

As for the TotalEnergies stations, there are no crowds.

And for good reason, the tanker stations have been dry for several days in the region.

To the great despair of Sylvie, who was looking to take advantage of the additional discount from the French group, to refuel at a favorable rate.

“At home in Saint-Orens, the Total station has been closed for three days. The same for the one that is right next to here. I'm supposed to be at work for three minutes, but I have no choice otherwise I'm not going tomorrow," she explains.

The liter towards 2 euros from Wednesday

A little further in the line of cars, Jean-Claude is also dry.

Young retiree, the man supports the future measure of the government, which aims to help the big rollers.

"It's normal I find. Before, when I worked, I was a big wheeler", he underlines.

"Now that's not the case anymore, so I don't mind" not taking advantage of the discount, he concludes.

And from this Wednesday, motorists will see prices at stations rise.

Diesel should then be displayed close to 2 euros per liter at the entrance to this Toulouse station.
