The municipality of Rome is preparing an ordinance to bring the heating on to tomorrow 14 November, but with a limitation of maximum 4 hours a day.

The decision, explains the Councilor for the Environment, Sabrina Alfonsi, was made in view of the "sharp drop in temperatures" expected in the coming days.

From 21 November (and until 31 March 2023), as required by the previous ordinance signed by the mayor Roberto Gualtieri, the heaters can instead remain on for a maximum of 10 hours between 5 and 23 every day.

A sharp drop in temperatures is expected

"From the constant monitoring of the temperatures that we are carrying out - explains a note - it is noted that in the next days of Monday 14 and Tuesday 15 November a sharp drop in temperatures is expected, with minimum expected decreases and between 5 and 7 degrees in city, to then return to increase in the following days.

For this reason, without prejudice to the provisions of ordinance no.

183 of 4.11.2022 and the exceptions and prescriptions contained therein, we are preparing a new ordinance thanks to which the Romans will be allowed to switch on the heaters for a maximum of 4 hours a day starting from tomorrow.

Continuing to recommend to citizens a conscious and responsible use of private heating, with this provision to switch on the systems we intend to give an adequate response to the needs of the most vulnerable people and the needs of the tourism-hotel sector, and more generally of the many businesses and activities production companies operating in the capital ".
