The municipal council recently decided on an adjustment of the fee for the chairman of the municipal board, it is reduced from SEK 71,500 to SEK 64,350 a month.
The reason for the change is that the post of chairman of the municipal board will be shared during the term of office.
Gert Jonsson (M) sits for two years and Kent Williamsson (S) the second half of the term.
It is part of the agreement that the parties made when they settled on governing the municipality for the next four years.
More tasks for the vice chairman
The arrangement has meant more tasks, full-time for the vice-chairman, and therefore the fee for the assignment is increased.
And so that the total cost of compensation to the politicians does not increase, the fee to the chairman of the municipal board is reduced by ten percent.
- The level was set by the council in May and it has been important to follow that direction, says Gert Jonsson (M), chairman of the municipal board.
In Norrtälje municipality, a few weeks ago the politicians wanted to raise the fee for the chairman of the municipal board by 27 percent. What do you think about it?
- I think it is important that you set the levels before an election campaign so that you know what applies regardless of what government there is afterwards.
Then I can think that the levels in this case were very high, says Kent Williamsson.
