In principle, Donald Trump has until Monday to cooperate with the January 6

commission of inquiry

.

But it is clear that the former president will do everything to block this procedure.

On Friday, his lawyers went to court arguing that the subpoena issued by the commission is "unlawful".

They question the legitimacy of this commission and believe that Donald Trump is covered by executive privilege and that the separation of powers prohibits Congress from compelling a president to come and testify.

A long list of arguments which announces a long procedure in front of justice.

And that is the goal.

Donald Trump is clearly playing the clock, because he knows that with the Republicans at the head of the House of Representatives, the commission of inquiry will be dissolved in January.

The Republican continues to scream witch hunts, as he is expected to

announce his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election this week

.

An announcement that also risks complicating the proceedings against him.

It is hard to imagine the Department of Justice initiating proceedings against a presidential candidate.
