72 hours after Martin Koncz entered the hospital, he had received a new liver.

The operation went well and after two weeks the parents were able to drive their son home.

Last summer he graduated, but the road there has been tough.

- At first it was about learning to walk again and then months of isolation followed, so when the pandemic came a year later I had already got all the routines in place, says Martin.

Apart from medication and a doctor's check-up once a quarter, Martin lives a normal life today.

- My family and I are very grateful that everything went so well and that my life was saved.

Martin became an "urgent call"

It is not unusual to have to wait several months for an organ.

But Martin gets a so-called "urgent call", the first liver that becomes available in the Nordics and that suits Martin, will be his.

- The doctors didn't really know what was wrong with me, other than that it was just urgent.

I finally got to talk to a liver expert and she suspected it could be Wilson's disease.

In the clip, Martin explains how it happened when the doctor established the diagnosis.
