The XV de la Rose has recovered from its first home defeat against the Pumas since 2006.

Carried by a conquering pack, the English were never worried by the Japanese, who had posed some problems for the New Zealanders at the end of October (38-31 defeat).

Physically dominated, clumsy with the ball in hand, the Japanese did not manage to keep enough continuity in their game to destabilize the effective defense of England, which they will find in the pool of the World Cup-2023, with the Argentines.

Full-back Freddie Steward quickly gave the English the advantage by dropping Kotaro Matsushima to score the first try of the match (12th), before being at the origin of that of Marcus Smith (24th) by dynamiting the Japanese defense on a relaunch.

Outnumbered after the yellow card inflicted on Johnny May for a foul in front of his goal line (35th), Eddie Jones' men nevertheless drove the point home with a try from center Guy Porter (40th), taking advantage of a a ball scratched on the ground.

With 18 points ahead at the break (24-6), the English then proceeded in the second period with the tries of Ellis Genge (48th), Porter (50th), a penalty try (70th) and finally a last test of Marcus Smith (74th), the Japanese saving the honor by Naoto Saito (60th).

For their last two autumn tests, the English will face New Zealand on Saturday November 19 and South Africa on Saturday November 26, while Japan will face France at the Stadium in Toulouse on Sunday November 20.
