The alarm reached the police shortly before 3 p.m., the police write on their website.

According to the alarm, a suspected dangerous object was found next to a parked car at Ättekulla and the National Bomb Squad was called to the scene.

Residents in Helsingborg were forced to evacuate

In addition to cordons around the car in question, a larger area was also cordoned off for safety.

All properties within a radius of 100 meters were evacuated.

In total, about 30 people were forced to leave their homes.

Another handful of people were housed, meaning they remained indoors but were asked to stay away from windows.

It is unclear what kind of objects have been found.

There is no information on where the object was found or, if it was under, on or in the vehicle.

In the area there is mixed housing.

- There are semi-detached houses and terraced houses and multi-family houses, says Evelina Olsson, press spokesperson at the police.

- The car is parked on the street, not directly connected to any address.

Shortly before 21:00 on Saturday evening, the police announced that the alarm was sharp, the object is considered dangerous.

A criminal investigation with the rubric of preparation for public destruction has been initiated.

- With reference to preliminary investigation confidentiality, I cannot go into more detail about what kind of object it is, says Evelina Olsson.

Criminal investigation started after the find

No one has been arrested and there are currently no suspects in the crime.

It is unclear if there is any threat to the car's owner.

- This is something we have to look at afterwards, says Evelina Olsson.

There is no information that anyone has been physically harmed.

In connection with the police operation at Ättekulla, all entrances to Rusthållargatan were closed to traffic, which affected public transport.

The external barriers were lifted at 20.45 and the residents could return home.

The car must be towed for a technical examination.
