A total of 70,000 notifications have been made to the donation register so far this year.

It is one of the highest numbers since 2011 and higher than the final figure for the last two years.

But lower than in 2019, when just over 160,000 registered.

The annual campaign week to get more people to decide to donate runs until Sunday.

In a normal week, 400–800 people sign up for the donation register, but during the campaign the number usually increases significantly.

Last year, 11,000 signed up during the week, compared to 7,500 so far during this year's campaign.

New is the option to sign up for the register via 1177's website.

- We of course hope for even more notifications before the end of the year because the register is an important part of the investigation when the issue of donation may come up.

Above all, we very much hope that many people will use the opportunity to sign up for the donation register via 1177.se", writes Anna Aldehag, head of unit at the National Donation Centre, in a press release.

Since before, it has been fine to register via the National Board of Health and Welfare's website.

Signing up for the donation register means that you make a decision - you say whether you say yes or no to donating organs and tissues.

Of the roughly 1.8 million Swedes who are currently in the donation register, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare, approximately 80 percent are positively inclined to donate.
