The diocese of Oise made public, this Wednesday, the first annual report of its cell "welcome-listening against abuse".

According to this document, nearly 25 priests are suspected of acts of pedocrime, on the basis of the accusations of about fifty victims;

Get complainants to talk

“The freedom of speech movement against abuse continues and it is happy,” said the bishop of Oise, a department particularly affected by the revelation of sexual abuse of minors.

“However, this is not enough.

We must also act for the future,” he stressed.

The bishop recalled that an e-mail address had been created in order to encourage the complainants to confide in the attacks suffered.

The release of this report comes as a new scandal shakes the Church.

Jean-Pierre Ricard, 78-year-old former patron of the bishops of France, confessed last Monday to having "reprehensible" conduct on a 14-year-old girl.

The facts would have occurred 35 years earlier.
