Anne-Catherine Lafarge, SE mayor of Marsat (Puy-de-Dôme), issued a municipal decree prohibiting hunting on the territory of the commune until the evening of December 4.

This decision follows the presence of hunters near the equestrian center of the village on November 4, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

The elected official felt that the safety rules had not been respected.

A complaint lodged

The horses, the staff of the establishment and the practitioners would have been put in danger.

The mayor said the owner of the premises alerted her after hearing shots and seeing pellets falling on the buildings and the carousel.

Animals and children were then present.

A complaint has been filed, we learn in a press release.

The hunters, who left when the city councilor arrived on the spot, would not have respected the obligation to stay at least 200 m from any construction.

“This kind of attitude is intolerable and we had to mark the occasion to avoid accidents.

[…] I do what I have to do for public safety,” commented Anne-Catherine Lafarge.
