Irina, the 29-year-old woman murdered by her husband last Sunday night in the Madrid town of Móstoles,

had the intention of separating from her partner,

as several people from her circle of trust have indicated to ELMUNDO.

That could be the trigger that led Galin, a 39-year-old Bulgarian, to stab Irina and their daughter, Mariya, to death.

The woman had never denounced her partner for ill-treatment

but, however, she had said that on some occasions her husband was aggressive with her, according to several close friends.

Last Sunday night

the man notified several friends via WhatsApp

that he had assaulted his wife and that he was going to take his own life.

Several of them then showed up at 3º D of number 20 of Avenida Olímpica in the El Soto neighborhood and knocked on the door.

No one opened them so they decided to notify the National Police.

Upon arrival, the agents managed to enter the house and found the lifeless bodies of the woman and the girl with multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest.

The displaced agents also found the alleged aggressor of the double crime, as they pointed out from 112.

He had attempted suicide by stabbing himself with the knife in his chest and legs

, although he was "stable" on the landing of the floor where the crime occurred, according to A Summa doctor declared yesterday, who also explained that the man was transferred to the Puerta de Hierro Hospital in Majadahonda, where more tests were carried out to assess the seriousness of the injuries that he would have caused himself.

The alleged murderer remains in hospital with a reserved prognosis, with permanent police surveillance, according to police sources.

The alleged perpetrator of the double crime worked in a car repair shop.

He had left for his country recently due to his father's illness.

He had been out of Spain for about two months and had returned home last week.

For three or four days, Irina, who was a manicure specialist, was a bit distant and did not share any kind of messages with any of her usual friends.

"Irina was a very good person and we cannot understand what has happened," said one of her acquaintances.

Last week

Irina also confessed to another of her closest friends that she was separating

from her husband.

Her relatives saw Irina, Galin and the girl together for the last time last Saturday.

The night of the double crime, none of the neighbors heard anything strange in the block where the family had lived for more than seven years.

As explained to Europa Press Television, Luzmila, whose daughter went to the same school as the murdered girl,

in the educational center they are "very shocked", with "some teachers crying".

About a hundred people kept five minutes of silence yesterday that the City Council called as a sign of mourning for the murder of the mother and the girl, which was joined by the mayor, Noelia Posse (PSOE), and the spokespersons of all parties with representation in the municipality.

The Consistory declared three days of official mourning

and also suspended all official and political acts for the next three days and the flags will fly at half-staff.

In the afternoon there was another citizen rally in the same square and also another called by the El Soto Neighborhood Association and Peña El Soto in front of the portal where the double crime occurred.

The Government Delegation against Gender Violence investigates these murders as possible sexist crimes and, if confirmed, the number of women murdered at the hands of their partners or former partners would rise to 37 so far this year and 1,167 since 2003.
