After Annie Lööf announced earlier in the fall that she was stepping down as party leader, the Center Party now has three candidates for the party leader position who will try to win the party's favor until the party meeting in February.

"Liberal values"

Distinctive Annie Lööf's party leadership has been, among other things, her clear opposition to collaboration with the Sweden Democrats.

In SVT's Aktuellt, the three candidates were asked how they themselves view collaboration with SD, and they completely agreed that it is completely out of the question.

But Elisabeth Tand Lindquist (C) wants to broaden the debate.

- The Center Party must also move on from that discussion and talk about the fact that we have a problem - and take up the debate - with anyone who threatens liberal values, she says.

Built from the bottom up

In addition, the candidates pushed for slightly different political areas.

Daniel Bäckström advocates a decentralization strategy where the party must be built from the bottom up in the municipalities.

Muharrem Demirok emphasized for his part that the Center Party must be a "knife-sharp" opposition party to the Tidö Agreement.

Elisabeth Tand Lindquist emphasized that the Center Party must continue to be a liberal bourgeois party and that takes the climate issue "very seriously".
