A 28-year-old man is due to appear this Monday before the Bobigny court (Seine-Saint-Denis) for unauthorized possession of a non-domestic animal species.

In 2017, a lion cub was found in a cage in his apartment in Noisy-le-Sec, recalls Actu Seine-St-Denis.

The police had tracked him down after he repeatedly showed up on social media with the cub.

The animal, amorphous and very weakened, had been released from its cage and entrusted to an animal protection association.

Already sentenced for ill-treatment

In police custody, the young man had admitted having rented the lion cub.

A few months before the facts, he had been riding a horse in Montreuil.

The individual had notably been sentenced the following year to a fine of 600 euros for ill-treatment and use of the equine for game purposes.

For this new trial, the Stéphane Lamart association has filed a civil action.
