The US State Department intends to work with Turkmenistan on the issue of sanctions against Russia

The American diplomat was asked if the Turkmen economy would suffer from sanctions against Russia.

“We are working with the government of Turkmenistan to ensure that the business and enterprises of Turkmenistan feel as little as possible the effect of this sanctions regime,” said Lu, quoted by RIA Novosti.

According to him, the risks for the economy of Turkmenistan are "very small", but the difficulties are caused by "banking operations through Russia."

“We will be happy to work with the government of Turkmenistan and the business community of Turkmenistan in order to assist in obtaining more benefits from the sanctions regime,” the State Department official said.

After his current visit to Turkmenistan, Donald Lu also intends to visit Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.
