The mayor of the Latvian city of Daugavpils said he recognizes Crimea as part of Russia

“Crimea is a part of the Russian Federation,” the official said, recalling that he had already indicated his position more than once.

The presenter during the interview noted that most countries did not recognize the reunification of the peninsula with Russia.

Elksnins, in turn, stressed that Crimea was included in the Russian Federation, and "the whole of Europe and the whole world" after that continued to cooperate with Russia.

According to the mayor of Daugavpils, the special military operation taking place in Ukraine is a "lost for diplomacy."

Earlier, American businessman Elon Musk attracted the attention of journalists with his statements about the settlement of the situation around Ukraine.

Thus, the situation around the Ukrainian crisis, he believes, should be resolved by retaining Crimea as part of Russia, “as it was from 1783 until Khrushchev’s mistake,” and in the regions recently annexed to the Russian Federation, referendums should be held again under the supervision of the UN.

Also, a member of the National Assembly of France, Marine Le Pen, noted that she considers Crimea to be Russian and does not regret the ban on visiting Ukraine.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which the majority of residents voted for reunification with Russia.
