The head of the committee said: “The committee has allocated sufficient time to discuss and clarify the definitions of the competent authorities, sports authorities and sports institutions that grant commercial or profit licenses to private sports facilities, by defining clear powers and requirements between the competencies of the General Authority for Sports, sports councils and the concerned authorities in the state, for the facilities to practice their sports activities, and granting them the necessary commercial licenses.

While the committee’s rapporteur, Shatha Saeed Al-Naqbi, confirmed that the committee, during its discussions of the draft sports law, sought to move its articles away from routine procedures, and to avoid any obstacles that might delay the promotion of sports activity and sports movement in the country, whether at the level of government or private sports entities and facilities.

Al-Naqbi clarified that the new draft law regulates the competencies and powers between the General Sports Authority on the one hand, and the sports councils on the other, especially with regard to all procedures related to granting licenses to facilities to engage in sports activities, taking into account all independent and elected national organizations whose work is regulated by a set of systems.
